In order to improve the kids¡¯ oral English and encourage them to speak out, we offered them the stage. CLS- A held the 1st Maple Leaf Cup Oral English competition. After heated competition during the first and second rounds the past few weeks, 23 groups of competitors reached the final on May 11th. Our judges were Mr. Mark Emptage, the teaching director of CIEO and Nathan and Romielle, the foreign teachers at our school.
A grand yet passionate dance, the¡°Little Apple¡± was performed by the kids from Class 3,Grade 1 at the start of the competition. Then the emcees came to the stage to give an opening speech and declare the rules, followed by the performances of the competitors one by one.
The competitors of junior and lower levels, presented various performances such as English songs, stories and plays. Rodric from Class 2 Grade 3 told us about solar energy demonstrating his outstanding oral English ability .
The competitors of middle and higher levels showed us more, much more. A boy from Class 1 Grade4 sang a song ¡°See You Again¡±,which shocked all with surprise and delight. The kids from Grade 6 did a play of common decency and being kind to one another and a lovely recitation about saving our beautiful world.
Mark, a representative of the parents and Miss Zhang£¬the president of Parents Council gave great comments on our final competition and expressed that they thought highly of the performances.
It could be called an English Show rather than just a competition. Thanks to all the competitors for their interesting stories and excellent presentations. We had so much fun and learned a lot as well.
With the beautiful music, our 1st Maple Leaf Cup Oral English Competition ended successfully. See you next summer!
